With miles of unspoilt flat golden sand as far as the eye can see, perfect for building sandcastles, flying a kite or walking the dog, Brancaster Beach is a must-visit while on a self-catering holiday in North Norfolk.
Located within the National Trust’s Brancaster Estate, whatever time of year you visit, Brancaster is a fantastic dog-friendly beach to walk on. Please check their website as there are restrictions on dogs during the summer months.
When the tide is out the remains of an old shipwreck are revealed. The SS Vina was used by the RAF further out to sea for target practice before the Normandy landing, when it broke anchor and becoming stranded on one of the many sandbanks, sinking in 1944. The shipwreck should only be viewed from the beach as the tides can be dangerous and many visitors have found themselves cut off at high tide.
If you’re a keen kitesurfer or into kite buggying, then Brancaster is a fantastic beach for this, however, please check the restrictions beforehand.
Located beside the car park are the toilets as well as a well-stocked kiosk selling buckets and spades, drinks and of course, ice creams!
